Life is All About Perception
Had occasion today to reflect on the context of “Reality”. We think things, feel things, see things and express things in our lives as being “Real”. We then extend that to the world around us, as in whatever is our sense of real must be real. And yet, our context of what is real is just our perception. There may be many who agree with us and who perceive it similarly and yet they are just further perceptions, personal reality vs actual reality. As an example, when you walk or look toward the horizon, its seems as its flat and although the first mentions of the world being round were in 6th century BC Greece, it wasn’t until the 16th century AD and based on Magellan’s around the world travels that it became accepted as actual reality that the world is spherical. We have similar challenges today as it applies to global warming. So bottom line, it comes down to ourselves. When we can be fully aware of our personal realities as being just that, then it makes it a lot easier to listen to and appreciate the realities as others perceive or what are actual or proven realities. It’s not about being right or wrong, it is about perceptions and their effect on ourselves, our expressed opinions and beliefs and of those around us. “Food for thought”
